'Mainland' is the new single from Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. It is the first new material to come from the Sub Pop-signed Melbourne five-piece, who began to break through last year thanks to their deservedly acclaimed The French Press EP and slots at noteworthy indie festivals such as End Of The Road. This new cut is filled with the brilliantly fizzing, garage-rock urgency that we've come to love from the outfit, with singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Russo describing how the track came together around a trip to his grandparents' birthplace off Sicily; "I was reading about a refugee crisis unfolding not far away in the Mediterranean Sea," says Russo. "The song is about longing, disillusionment, privilege and holding on to love as a kind of shield." The single comes alongside news of extensive tour dates throughout 2018. -G.O'B
